Cerdanya is one of the widest valleys of Europe. Particularly, it stands out by its minimum altitude (a few thousand meters), its east-west orientation and a high insolation of around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. The mountain range is formed by the Sierra del Cadí (western side), Sierra del Moixeró and other eastern massifs such as Tossa d'Alp, Puigllançada and Pedraforca. Being part of Catalonia, Cerdanya forms a physiographic unit defined by some orographic, climatic and historical characteristics that are undoubtedly unique. Mainly integrated for the high Valle del Segre, Cerdanya is one of the widest valleys of Europe. Particularly, it stands out by its minimum altitude (a few thousand meters), its east-west orientation and a high insolation of around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year.

The mountain range is formed by the Sierra del Cadí (western side), Sierra del Moixeró and other eastern massifs such as Tossa d'Alp, Puigllançada and Pedraforca (Berguedà).

The landscape beauty is extraordinary: from the pure characteristics of the Mediterranean up to the alpine meadows of the high summits, we find a great variety of sub-Mediterranean forests, beech woods, boreal red pine forests, and subalpine coniferous forests with black pines and firs. The vegetation of the region is considered of very special interest, since the low temperatures, the high humidity and the altitude of the area have contributed to the existence of species that are not characteristic of the Mediterranean zone —being originally from the north of Europe and the high alpine mountains.

Cerdanya is a fantastic place to enjoy sport in a unique environment. It offers you a wide variety of possibilities to carry out any type of sport: BTT routes, foot journeys, nordic skiing, alpine skiing, snow rackets, golf, equestrian sports, climbing, fishing, mountaineering, etc. In the region you can find several specialized companies with a lot of qualified professionals that will turn these activities into a safe adventure. Enjoy it!
